Flour Tortilla Pizza

Updated: Feb 11, 2022

This ready to cook pizza recipe makes a great St. Louis Style Pizza. A cracker thin crust with a creamy cheese and your favorite toppings makes this the best homemade pizza you will ever eat.

Ingredients

Pizza Shell

  • 1 Package of 12" Grande Burrito Flour Tortillas (8 count)

Pizza Shell Preparation

  1. Place several tortillas on a cutting board and ventilate each shell with a fork or pizza docker. This prevents the dough from bubbling during cooking.

  2. Place a pizza stone in the oven and Pre-heat oven to 425 degrees. Once heated, cook each shell separately for 4 minutes. Place flat on a cooling rack and set aside.

  3. Repeat until all 8 shells are pre-cooked.

  4. Once shells have cooled, stack the shells and place in a 2 gallon zip-lock bag and store in your freezer.

Time To Make The Pizza

  1. Heat oven to 425 degrees

  2. Once oven is heated ( starting the oven before the pizza ensures the stone is heated to full temperature), remove a shell from the freezer and place on a level surface.

  3. Spread the shell with sauce to your desired result. ( See our recipe for pizza sauce )

  4. Spread cheese over entire pizza. Make sure to keep cheese at least 1" away from the edge to prevent cheese from running off the pizza while cooking. Tip: Less is better than too much. (See our recipe for Provel Cheese )

  5. Place your choice of toppings on top of cheese.

  6. Sprinkle top of pizza with pizza spice. ( See our recipe for Pizza Spice )

  7. Cook pizza at 425 degrees for 12 to 14 minutes or until cheese starts to turn golden brown.

Pro Tips

  • See our recipes for spice, sauce and cheese for best results.

  • Sprinkle cornmeal on prep surface and pizza stone to prevent shell from sticking to the surface.

  • You can use smaller burrito shells for kids so they have their own personal size pizza and let them spread their own toppings for family fun.
