This is a repair kit for low-budget store bought meat sauce. Makes a delicious and versatile sauce for Pasta, Dipping or Topping for your favorite dishes. Greatly improves flavor for those discount generic sauces found on every Grocery Store shelf.
Ingredients
1 - 32 ounce Jar of Cheap Generic Meat Sauce or Red Spaghetti Sauce
1/2 Teaspoon Dried Oregano
1/2 Teaspoon Dried Basil
1/2 Tablespoon Garlic Powder
1/2 Teaspoon Red Pepper Flakes
1 Teaspoon Coarse Ground Kosher Salt
1 Teaspoon Coarse Ground Peppercorn
1 Heaping tablespoon of Sugar
1/3 Cup of Dark Red Wine - i.e. Burgundy or Merlot (See Pro tip #1).
(Optional) 1 can of Rotel for tomato chunks
Directions
Mix above ingredients in a sauce pot and simmer prior to use.
Pro Tip
Most store bought Red Pasta Sauce is made too thick. After emptying jar, add 1/3 cup of Dark Red Wine to jar and replace lid. Shake vigorously then add to the sauce.
Never add sauce to cooked pasta and mix in a pot. Always serve sauce on top of plated pasta.
