Common Kitchen Roux

For those of you new to cooking or learning your way around a kitchen, this is a must have staple you should never be without.



Ingredients

  • 1 Stick of Salted Butter

  • All-purpose Flour ( for gluten free, use "Argo Corn Starch" as you would the flour).

Directions

  1. Use a small pot to melt the butter. Bring the butter to the point where it starts to bubble.

  2. Slowly add Flour or Starch to butter while whisking. Continue adding flour or starch until the mixture is thick and creamy.

  3. Remove from heat and allow to cool.

  4. Refrigerate in a container with a lid (Usually lasts approximately 6 months in the refrigerator).
